Abstract

This study aims to improve reading skills through pictures in children aged 3–4 years by using illustrated media to help them remember the shape and sound of each word. Reading ability is one of the important aspects that support children’s language development. However, in practice, the children’s reading ability is still at a very basic level, causing them to pay more attention to the pictures than to the written words. This research uses the Maharaja Adventure media, where children read letters through the images provided on the cards. The research method used in this study is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with two cycles. The subjects of this research were 12 children from KB Putra Bahagia. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show a significant improvement in early childhood reading skills using the Maharaja Adventure media, particularly in terms of recalling images, concentration, and letter recognition. Thus, the Maharaja Adventure media can serve as an alternative learning medium for children and supports the implementation of Learning through Play
